NordVPN works across a wide range of devices and platforms, so however you connect, there's a supported way to get set up.
Supported platforms
NordVPN supports Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, along with select routers and NAS devices, plus browser extensions for the major browsers.
Ways to set up a connection
- NordVPN app — the simplest option for most people; download the app for your device from your NordVPN control panel and sign in.
- Manual setup — if you'd rather configure the VPN connection directly in your device's network settings, this is supported too, though it takes a few more steps. See the NordVPN Help Center for platform-specific manual instructions.
- Router installation — installing NordVPN on a compatible Wi-Fi router extends protection to every device on your network automatically, including ones that can't run a VPN app themselves (smart TVs, cameras, etc.).
Streaming with SmartDNS
NordVPN's SmartPlay feature uses SmartDNS to help you access streaming content on smart TVs and other devices that don't support a full VPN client. Check NordVPN's documentation on SmartDNS for setup details.
